We had a successful adoption through Connections in Maine, who were fine during the adoption, but when our son's mother got pregnant again they were horrible to me and to her. She ended up keeping the child, which was probably best anyway.


The agency we used for our first adoption is no longer in business.




Adoption Definitions
Good Medical Care = She's been to the doctor once
In a Drug Treatment Program = she's on probation and has been tested a couple times
Isn't interested in money = only wants $800 a month as opposed to $1500 or more.
The social worker will help you = we'll give you the mother's number and you can call her
We'll support you after the adoption = we'll contact you if your birth mother gets pregnant again and then use extortion if you want to adopt your child's sibling

There must be a law that says, "If you are a disorganized attorney, you must go into adoption law." Really! I have dealt with more than 10 adoption attorneys now and of those, only one has responded promptly, actually answered the question I asked and seemed like a reasonable human being.
